Close by is Winchelsea, another historic town. I don&#8217;t know if you remember Spike Milligan, but he&#8217;s buried in the cemetery of St Thomas&#8217;s Church. I left a Sam Stone on his gravestone. The lettering on the headstone isn&#8217;t easy to decipher, and is in Gaelic font and the inscription is in a mixture of Irish and English. Milligan wanted to have the words &#8220;I told you I was ill&#8217; on his headstone, but the church authorities wouldn&#8217;t allow it.
