This weekend, I found a good place for a Sam Stone again. I left one
at the monument at Roskilde Festival in Denmark. It’s a stone with the
inscription “How fragile we are” (a quote from the Sting song
“Fragile”) surrounded by nine trees. It made me think of Sam, so
that’s why I placed a stone at the monument.

Love, Caryn

Samstone found in Mark Twain Cave near Hannibal MO July 3, 2016:

My son, who’s also named Sam, found the stone in the cave. He is 4
years-old. He recognized his name and snatched it up. I assumed it was
someone’s personalized souvenir  so we asked around to find whoever
had dropped it. Since no one spoke up, we figured it was meant to be
and he kept it. When we got home, we found the website and discovered
that what he had found was something more than a simple trinket.

On behalf of my son, I would like to say thank you for such a
meaningful souvenir of today’s adventure. I am sure he will treasure
for a long time to come. For myself, I can only say my family is moved
and inspired by how Sam’s family & friends continue to send out such
positivity and love in his name.

La Defense – Paris, France

Posted by: samstone @ 7:25 pm

Hi John,

I’ve been trying to upload my picture of Sam’s Stone for last 2 weeks unsuccessfully on the website.
So the location is “La Defense” in West Paris (France).
Could you post appropriately on the website ?
So please find my text and picture:
Sam is now in the middle of “La Défense” in Paris. I wanted to put one stone in “Les Champs Elysées” but someone did it before. So my first Stone is for the Business Area.
En mémoire de Sam. Life goes on.
Christof.

Fwd: location?

Well, that took long enough!  I mailed the Sam stone to Francis, my niece’s husband who flies for Inuit Airlines, soon after we saw you—and how long ago was that?!!  Often it was just too cold or snowy for him to find a good spot, but I’m really happy that it’s now been placed.

We’re planning to visit Francis and family in Montreal this summer, which is turning into a busy travel time.  We’re just back from visiting one of Paul’s son’s

in Richmond, VA, and leave for VT next Monday to visit his sister.  Then next month we’re off to Maine to visit another of Paul’s sons.  In August my son Michael is coming out from Gambier Island, BC, and possibly my sister from Spain will come also. And that’s not all of it—it’s a whirlwind!

What are you up to?  Maybe when life has calmed down in the fall, you and Susan and I could have another visit.  Paul and I haven’t yet found a new place to live and are looking into a retirement place in Rhinebeck, where I used to live and near Red Hook where Susan & Bernard have their summer/weekend home.  Lots to talk about.

I hope goes well with your brood.

Love, Susie

Hi Susie,

I finally placed a SamStone north of  Salluit airport last week. I sent the location and photo to the website.

Another school year has come to an end for Amelia. Now we have to line up the fun and games (minus the Ipad). She likes the cabin provided there is a human being of her age group there.

Me busy with the endless ongoing, renovations. I love the outdoor work at the cabin. I recently bought a chainsaw to satisfy my tool fetish and cut dead trees. restarted my beekeeping operation after a one year hiatus. My hives were stolen last year andhave given up on urban beekeeping. Looking forward to  much better honey yields in the country.

Glad to hear your travel plans are firming up. We look forward to welcoming in one or all of our 3 residences.

Love,

Francis

Hi, Francis,

Did you ever find a spot to put the stone I sent you?  I’d love to pass the location on to my friend.   We leave on Tuesday for 6 weeks in San Diego and Tucson, so I’m just following up odds and ends of things on my desk.

Your little shangri-la in the woods sounds idyllic.  Maybe we can drive out to see it on our next trip, possibly in the summer—or at least when the snow is gone.

Love,

Susie
