Veterans Day is just around the corner, which reminded me to submit a
patriot placement of a Samstone. Lance took Sam along with him on a
tour of an LST (Landing Ship Tank) in Evansville, Indiana on July 27,
2011. The ship that he and Sam toured was identical to the ship that
Lance’s father served on during WWII. After a very interesting
tour, Lance placed Sam on an anchor of this ship, in memory of Sam and
all the troops that landed in Normandy on D-Day, June 6, 1944.

I know I placed one out there, near the top pump house. Not sure about the other one, but they were meant to travel!! John Cohn, Sam's Dad, is a work colleague of ours at IBM and a heckuva great guy.
I put one at the Acropolis in Athens a few years back, too.
I'm so glad to see this live on.

Peggy

OK Peggy, I found 2 Sam Stones out back. I was just about to throw a note
out to the MTB community to see who is riding back there but then noticed
the Samstone website. There were no mappings of our trails but I did notice
that you placed a Samstone up on Mt Ham. Coinicidence? Hmmmm…

Found a samstone in Honey Hollow, Bolton, VT a couple of weeks ago. I
was wondering what it was, got around to finding out this evening. I
found it while I was waiting for my fellow foresters to head up in the
woods to work on a timber sale. The stone was in a crack of an ash
tree near one of our forest access roads. I noticed something odd, a
white object from about 30' away. went over to check it out. Brought
it home.

My husband and I found a stone at Mount Van Hoevenberg, region of Lake
Placid, NY, on the sunny morning of October 10, 2011. Thanks to the
person who left it there, that location was a great place to find it!
We will keep the stone, at least until we find the perfect place to
pass it on to someone else.

I placed a SamStone 10/1/11 inside the Taj Mahal in Agra. 10/3/11 I
placed one in a doorway at the Amber Fort in Jaipur (photo of
courtyard). 10/8/11 I placed one in Amsterdam near Damrak and Central
Station, overlooking a canal that has many swans and ducks. All three
places are beautiful settings for Sam's memory.

I will put my Samstone into my bicycle saddle bag so that when I am
riding, it will always be with me. I will upload the routes as I go.
