We went on a trip to Ireland for our 10th anniversary and I brought a
few SamStones along – I had been given the stones and told Sam's story
by my friend Katrina, and wanted to be a part of something so amazing.
The first full day we were there we visited the Hill of Tara, a
beautiful historic landmark 30 minutes northeast of Dublin. The
grounds are vast, but a quirky little tree that people had chosen to
hang ribbons and other random trinkets seemed a perfect little spot.
The view from the spot is amazing, including a large herd of sheep
that wanders the grounds of the monument!
Thanks!

I used to manage OppenheimerFunds Legacy Program, which was Sam's
charitable foundation administration. In graditude you sent me a
Sam's Stone in the mail with some additional communication. I simply
set it aside and continued my business. One snowy Colorado day I was
snowed into the office and left with little to do. Sam's Stone caught
my attention, and I looged on to the website and saw what it was you
had sent to me. Sam's spirit and legacy called out to me and his
Stone became a symbolic reference to living and loving life that I
have held close since and kept in plain view. This afternoon I
meandered onto last years season of Discovery channels "The Colony",
and in the first episode Sam's dad (I presume John) placed one in the
water filtering system. It's going to be great watching him live in
Sam's spirit through the show, and it inspired me to reach out and
let you know that Sam's spirit is still rippling through the world.
Thank you.

John,
I met you in 2008 at Burning Man on the playa. You gave me 3 SamStones and I thought you were just some kooky guy on the playa. Later I saw The Colony, and realized that was you. I have since passed your story / Sam's story along and given 2 of the 3 stones to other people to place. The one I kept I took with me to Thailand and Cambodia in Feb. 2010. I ended up placing it in Angor Thom, as I felt that it was more impressive than Angor Wat.
I'll be going to Burning Man again this year and will be camping (or trying to camp at / around) 6:45 and "G". I'm part of a camp called camp Grrr. We are trying to get an art car there this year. If you are going please stop by and say hello. I hope your 2010 is going well.
Cheers,
Cody
Sorry for such a bad photo, It was 101F that day, lol.

On top of a glacier in Girdwood Alaska at the base of an Iditarod Dog
sled camp. The flag is the state flag of Alaska and the dog trainers
agreed to watch after the stone as the snow melts, perhaps moving it
higher into the glacier over time!

My father, James C. Sims, passed away on August 12, 2009. On the
first Father's Day after he passed (June 20, 2010), I visited his
gravesite and left flowers and a SamStone. I know everyone misses
Sam and I dearly miss my dad, and I wanted to somehow connect the
two. I think of Sam as keeping my dad company when I'm not there.
The SamStone was placed at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, 1591 Gadsden
Highway, Birmingham, AL
