Brynn placed samstones in East erlin PA while at a weaving conference
My friend Andrius just sent me this samstone placement. It's particularly meaningful to me because both sides of my family come from Kaunas.. Thank you so much Andrius for helping us spread Sam's spirit to an impotant place in our and his past. I look forward to hearing from Ruta what she chooses to do with the Stone..

Hi John, We met in Vermont in the summer of 2008. You gave a talk to
high school science students and I came to listen as I was on campus
at Stephen Wolfram's summer camp. I was touched by your loss of Sam,
especially as I had recently lost a niece, Marija, 11 years old, to
the flu. I live in Lithuania and we agreed that I should bring a
Samstone to Kaunas where you have roots.
I was on the road and your Samstone with me, for three
months in the South Side of Chicago where President Obama was a
community organizer, and for three months teaching algebra in Bosnia
(Tuzla and Sarajevo), and I traveled to Boston, Zurich, the Alps, the
Open Davos Forum, Vienna, Turin, always with Samstone tucked away.
Finally, in the village of Smalininkai, at a sculpture symposium, I
met Ruta Oslovskaja, an art historian who works with the Kaunas
Jewish community. She appreciated our story and we agreed that she
will place our Samstone in a time capsule in Kaunas that is related
to the World Litvak Conference which just took place. She will write
me when they place the capsule (it was delayed) but I write you now so
that you know. One thought that came was that all the Jews who died
in the Holocaust were killed as children in that they were condemned
for simply being Jews. Thank you for including us in your sorrow and
your healing.

I had been at Camp Abnaki while Sam was there, and he was pretty much
everybody's coolest brother. I had the SamStone for a bit, a couple of
years, and I had never found a good enough place for it. This year
though, camp has a new skipper shack, and I knew I had found my spot.
The stone is now is rafters of the new Shack.
Abnaki never forgets its own.

Matt,
That's so cool.. Sam's brother Gabe left the stone there when he was in Seattle a few weeks back. Can you tell me the name/address of the restaurant ?
Put the stone anywhere you'd like.. if you tell us where, we'll put it on our map on SamStones/org.. We really appreciate your writing us about finding the stone. It makes us happy to know that Sam's spirit is getting around !

Hello. My name is Fiona and I am actually from Vermont, but I have
been living and travelling in Australia for about a year. I came
across one of your samstones today, at work. I am in hospitality in
a small town called Leura, in the Blue Mountains, about 2 hours west
of Sydney. I happened to wait on a family of five today, Diane and
John Cohn. After finding out that we were both from the same state,
she gave me a samstone. After looking at this site, it seems like
Sam was a person just full of life and happiness. I'm not sure what
I will do with the sam stone, but perhaps I will find a good spot to
leave it here, in Australia.
It was nice to be a part of this great tribute to Sam.
Cheers,

I found a sam stone on top of Pine Grove Mt. near State College, Pa.
i looked down and was like hmm what is this. so i picked it up and
kept it to show my boyfriend and i got on the website and was touched
that your community is doing this for sam. he must have been blessed
to have friends and family like you. so i was wondering if i could
have a few sam stones to out around places that i love and so other
people can learn about sam. thanks alot.
