Rand says:
John,
It was our son Reid who had borrowed a pack from a friend at school who had lent it to Eric. When Reid got up to the Village he emptied it out only to find a Sam stone remembering that Eric had borrowed this pack as well. He placed it in this remote village where he was doing a mission project.

Sam has a wonderful lake-side view of Hamiliton Lake, in Holland, MA.
He has a beautiful spot in the sun, that faces west for daily sunset
celebration. He is very close to the water, and may get splashed
once the lake thaws and boats start motoring by, Although we did not
have the opportunity to meet and know Sam, we do know of him and feel
a connection.

The beautiful part of this story is it was found by a Sam – a three year old beautiful boy who absolutely embodies the spirit that you describe. He found the stone and said S-A-M that spells Sam – as soon as he is ready to let it go we will leave it somewhere new in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Thank you for sharing your beautiful story –

I placed a Samstone in the very large
topiary pot, flanking the doors to the
Ritz Carlton on Central Park South. The view from the 10th floor was
beautiful as you were able to look through the trees in the park.
Sam would have liked that. I hope the gardener will find it now that
it is spring.
