It was interesting to watch the flight. The blue pyramid stopped very quickly due to drag but the SamStone's momentum carried it up further before arched over, landing in the grass where it was left.

Ollantaytambo – Peru

Posted by: samstone @ 6:23 pm

John,

I left a Sam Stone on a wall at an Inca site, Ollantaytambo – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ollantaytambo – where the Incas won a rare victory over the Spanish. I attack photo of stone and a few photos of the views

Raqchi – peru

Posted by: samstone @ 6:18 pm

John,

We left another stone at Raqchi –  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raqchi – this time in a niche in an Inca adobe wall, which was built on Inca stone foundations. These niches, and trapezoidal doorways, are a feature on Inca temples. I don't believe the Incas discovered the arch, so all their doorways are slightly trapezoidal.

We arrived in Raqchi on the feast day of Saint Michael, to whom their church is dedicated. We saw the following shuffling dance being performed in the village square, which seems to be about a flock of sheep being menaced by wolves, bears etc.

When we got back from seeing the Inca ruins, another dance started up. This time the guys in blue, with masks, represented the Chileans who invaded in the late 19th century:

The coordinates of Raqchi, which is about 11,450ft above sea level, are:

14 degrees 10 minutes 29 seconds South
71 degrees 22 minutes 12 seconds West

Redondo beach – California

ear Diane and John,

I have received my Sam stones and visited the wilderness park today and place Sam next to the lower pond of the park. I have enclosed a few photo's of what Sam can see. I know he will love looking at all the wonderfulness around him. I will  visit the park again and check to see if Sam is still in the same spot and if so, I will  move him to another part of the park to view.

Thank you for sharing the love and life of Sam with us.
