Where did you find the SamStone ? (please be as specific as you can e.g.: near a landmark, an address or a long/lat) |
High point trail (at a fire pit) |
Please tell us about where and how you found it |
I was with family (my husband, his cousin and friend) and we were hiking down from High Point. I found Sam’s stone placed at the fire pit and took it with me. I’m sorry if that was a misunderstanding of the stones purpose (I thought they were supposed to be taken and moved elsewhere by the finders.) I brought the stone with me to Paris and brought it along with me to the Picasso museum, the Rodin museum, the Louvre, and on several beautiful walks around the Seine river and the city. I plan to either return it where I found it this summer or place it in a new beautiful spot. I will
Upload pictures. I’m so sorry for the loss of this wonderful child. |

We have placed a Sam stone in our outdoor space at our preschool centre. The children sometimes move the Sam stone around in their play and notice the writing and ask questions. In a developmentally appropriate way, we open up discussions on ‘love’ ‘respect’ and ‘kindness’ in honour of Sam. |

My friend was swimming in a swimming hole and pulled the rock up, as my name is Sam she gave it to me. This was while I was a student at UVM. I’ve had it with me for around 2 years now and just found out I could let you know about it. I go to school at JMU in Harrisonburg and there’s plenty of lovely mountains I would love to leave this stone and carry on this beautiful tradition. |

I placed my SamStone at Third Scenic View, at Effigy Mounds National Monument in Harpers Ferry, Iowa |
Please tell us more about where and how you placed it |
I graduated from UVM in 2012 and that is where I received this SamStone. It has been stored along with many other UVM relics for many years until this weekend, when I unpacked some of those boxes. As I visited the website and read more about Sam, I was struck by his story. I teach 9th grade English and Sam was about the age of my students when he passed away. I also spent time working at Camp Abnaki and felt the spirit of that beautiful place. So, I decided I would bring my SamStone to a place where I hike with a beautiful overlook of the Mississippi River. |

I was on vacation and searching for geocaches and found it placed in the geocache. I took it back home with me to Iowa and am going to place it with hopes it will continue on an exciting adventure. |
