John,
Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. We’re in the re-deployment phase in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, at the moment. The country is really beautiful. The Kyrgyz people are friendly enough; the women are attractive and the men are usually huge, probably of Mongolian and possibly Scythian descent. The steppe surrounding our base is green with rolling hills extending to the Tian Shan mountains to our north. I attempted to capture the landscape in the picture but there was unfortunately too much haze to see the mountains. I placed Sam in a spectacular low-traffic area on the steppe at the eastern edge of MANUS air base about seven inches below the gravel. Hope all is well. Take care.
