Punakha Dzong – Bhutan

Name = Dena Driver Email = denadriver@aol.com Message = I was given my Sam Stone from a friend of Sam's – Forrest Brandt who brought it to New York. From there I took it to Dallas Tx and gave it to my mother who was traveling to Bhutan. A monk at the temple helped her place the stone in the Temple of Happiness. details below – PUNAKHA, BHUTAN THE PUNAKHA DZONG (PALACE OF GREAT HAPPINESS) BUILT AT THE JUNCTION OF THE PHOCHU AND MOCHU RIVERS IN 1637 BY SHABDRUNG NGAWANG NAMGYAL. THIS MAJESTIC DZONG SERVED AS BOTH THE RELIGIOUS AND THE ADMINISTRATIVE CENTER OF BHUTAN IN THE PAST. IT MEASURES SOME 600 BY 240 FEET AND HAS A SIX-STORY GOLD-DOMED TOWER. INSIDE ARE THE COURTYARDS AND RELIGIOUS STATUARY THAT HINT AT THE DEPTH OF HISTORY AND SPIRITUAL TRADITION ENBODIED HERE.
