Rifugio Walter Bonatti – Italy

John..

It's time for an update.  I  did find two more Sam stones.  Both at the Honey Hollow (Catamount Trail)  trail head.  One on top of the post and one inside the register box.   I am happy to report that I  brought the three stones on the Tour of Mont  Blanc.  I hiked 95 miles with an Adirondack Mountain Club group around Mont  Blanc starting in France, and travelling through Italy and Switzerland and back  to France.  Beautiful trip.  I placed Sam Stones in these three  countries.  The first was placed on a tall rock cairn on September 7 2009  between Col du Bonhomme and Col de Croix de Bonhomme France  (two pictures  included)  On September 11, the second stone was placed on the the  windowsill of the Rifugio Walter Bonatti in Italy (four pictures  included).   The final stone was placed in a cozy nest shaped  indentation surrounded by rocks in the Fenetre d'Arpette 'window' in Switzerland  on September 13.  (five pictures included).  It was a thrill to take  Sam with me on this adventure and his spirit lives on.  Thank you.   Carlene Squires

Carlene..
Thanks so much for writing.. You are right.. we put these  stones out there so that people will take them and spread them through the  world. Thanks for helping us do that. Diane and I put that stone there on one  of our favorite walk/runs.. We'll drop another one off there so the next hiker  can have one. Let us know where yours ends up.. and let us know if you'd like  more. Thanks for helping us keep Sam's spirit moving through the world ! Peace  !

I  often take my dog Callahan up the Catamount Trail in Honey Hollow.
We went  for a walk on a late afternoon on Sunday, October 18.  We
often stop  along the way at a favorite brook so he can get a drink
and I can sit on a  large rock.  When we got there, we found a
Samstone on the rock.   I looked at it and wondered should I take it
or leave it.  I  thought it was meant to be taken so I took it.  I had
a hunch that it  was somehow connected to Sam Cohn.  I checked the
website and it was.   I have not decided what I will do with the stone
but I put it in my  pocket and it went on a hike one day now it sits on
the dining room table.   I may take it on an Adirondack trip next year
to Mt. Blanc.   It's a 14 day hiking trip that goes around Mt. Blanc
through France,  Italy, and Switzerland.
