Charlotte-Amalie – St. Thomas, USVI

Sam Stone #3 – Charlotte-Amalie, St. Thomas, USVI

On our way home, we spent a day in Charlotte-Amalie. The
architecture there is very old European style. As I walked into the
courtyard of our hotel, I looked around and felt like I had been
magically transported to Spain in the 1800’s. Well, except for the
Pepsi machine on the right, which I did my best to pretend wasn’t
there. This place was just stunning. The photo can’t possibly do it justice.

Here’s another shot, taken through the window in our hotel room
door. This window contains neither screen nor glass, and needs neither.

The courtyard was filled with large potted plants, many of which
sported large colorful blooms. All of them had a layer of off-white
stones on top of the soil. One of them now sports a Sam Stone, which
blends right in. When I was preparing to take what would have been
the last photo of the trip (we were leaving for the airport to catch
our plane home), I pressed the button, and the camera said “Out Of
Memory”. Dang!
